Mental math isn’t explicitly part of most curricula, but students who can’t answer relatively-simple equations in their heads with speed or automaticity will likely struggle with harder content. It’s been our endeavour to enhance cognitive strategies that helps flexible thinking and number sense. It is calculating mentally without the use of external memory aids. It improves computational fluency by developing efficiency, accuracy, and flexibility. In today’s assembly the Math department had students working on their mental math skills.
